How to rename a file within Pakscape?

Postby Baker » Tue Jun 20, 2006 12:22 am

I'm building something nice for DarkPlaces, but I have to constantly rename filenames inside pk3's to DarkPlaces naming convention.

In Pak Explorer, you could easily rename files inside a pak. Is there a way to rename files inside a pak or pk3 with PakScape?

You know a pk3 is just a renamed zip file, right?

You can use any old zip program and rename the files inside a pk3 easily.

Can you recommend one that supports easy renaming within a zip file? I don't have one that does that.

I am doing this for no less than 80 pk3 archives. It would be nicer if DarkPlaces, QMB, JoeQuake, Tenebrae, EZQuake and all the other engines used the same convention for everything ... that really blows.

Yeah, but Quark requires too much funky stuff to be installed. That's my opinion, maybe others disagree with that.

Weird ... WinRAR can't do this, but 7-Zip can.
