I must add, PLEASE when you upload the files, make sure the text file is actually informative as to what type of file it is, mod, map, utility, if its singleplayer, or a multiplayer type, bots, weapon... enough information to get it moved into the proper folder on the archive.

thanks for the great response everyone. I was worried this wouldn't catch on.

we need all the newer utitilies also. Frik? start uploading.

also, for people that I've known a long while in the community, I will give slite FTP access for making uploading easier.

enjoy everyone

Dumb questions ....

If this the kind of things that someone like, say, CheapAlert could upload lost mods and models too.

What is the max capacity? What type of things are "for sure" not wanted other than the obvious (illegal stuff)?

there is no limit to file size.

files are screened quite frequently to try to rid us of warez and such.

anything illegal should stay away. all old mods from cdrom.com days should stay away. anything else is welcome.

make sure to include a readme that describes what it is.

also, only archives are welcome.

.zip, .rar, .7z, .ace... I think that may be it.

readme's should be .txt format

I'd limit it to .zip and maybe .7z.

About the textfiles. If you look at the doomworld idgames archive then you see that they are generating their infos pages straight from the readme files (at least I think they do). This is only possible because the readmes follow the "good old scheme" respective(?) the txt file generator: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?textmaker

For possible improvements in the future I would suggest such "red line" to follow with readmes. Maybe you could create an alike textmaker.

Thanks Error for this archive!

Why .zip? .zip sucks, .rar for life fools.

7zip owns rar pretty much... And the program is totally free.

I hate 7zFM.exe because it's SO SLOW opening archives...

I can't get it to work; it begins uploading, then sometimes ends with no error, or an error or just stops - but the file I'm uploading isn't there.....

boy I'm crap ;)
