...and all around me was the chaos of battle and the reek of running blood.... and for the first time in my life I knew true happiness.

Things that could ruin Quake V:
1. two weapon system that most modern shooters adhere too.
2. regenerating health
3. none of the original monsters
4. tryharding
5. no jumping
6. no pc release

Please, please... make this don't suck.
I always dreamed of a Quake prequel, telling how an antediluvian hero would become the enigmatic Quake we heard about in the first game but never had the chance to actually see. Kinda like the player character in Diablo I becomes the villain in Diablo II. That would rock.

I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC

I assume it will be an OK shooter, technically solid since it's from id, but it will be like Doom 3 with shamblers and probably vehicles.
Oh well, it's the best we can hope for. Tbh I don't care who the enemies are, I care about whether it's a fun shooter.

The awesomeness of Quake 1 is really defined by what it didn't have. Quake 1 didn't have talking, didn't have missions, a true plot, etc ....
