New Qake Map! Whee!

Postby FrikaC » Tue Feb 28, 2006 5:49 am

Okay, so I'm bored. I whipped up a new map for Qake tonight. Readme can be found here:

http://www.inside3d.com/frikbot/qake/bonus1_readme.txt

The actual map can be found here:

http://www.inside3d.com/frikbot/qake/bonus1.zip

You'll need the latest Qake (it's got like 2 bugfixes over the Quake Expo version, wooo)

Or to upgrade from the QExpo version (if 2 whole megs is too massive for yas)

That's it, I'm going to bed.

Tough level compared to what we've been given so far which is great!

The platform jumping is smooth in Qake so I never really had trouble trying to jump across those platforms you so lovingly laid out for us, the music was a great choice ;) Here's a tip, in order to beat the level it's wise to proceed slowly and don't rush, also running away from enemies can give a big advantage. Took me 3 tries to beat it, damn ogres throwing grenades down those slopes!

F. A. Špork, an enlightened nobleman and a great patron of art, had a stately Baroque spa complex built on the banks of the River Labe.

'tis very cool overall, though the explosions seem a little...Overlarge (area splash wise), and unimpressive. Also, I found myself wishing that there were keys for directly accessing weapons rather than just cycling through. Something else that would be cool is some sort of detailed status display, ala Commander Keen 4 and up or Strife.

COMM-che-che! COMM-che-che!

That is just a great sound effect...

The level is very tough, adn the controls take some getting used to, but it's still cool...

Let them eat Qake ;-)
