Quake 2 Mods on PSP
Hi, I don't know if this is the exact place to ask this question. However, I have asked other sites, yet no response. So please, help me out.
Anywho, what I wanted to know is: How did Crow_bar (the Russian PSP Programmer) make the Quake 2 mods playable on PSP? I am aware that Quake 2 mods come in a Gamex86.dll file, which to my knowledge is unusable on psp. But when I downloaded Quake 2 Hardware Rendering version, it came with a premade gamex86.PRX file... I wanted to know if he compiled it. (I have never attempted to compile anything before, but I am a fast learner) I would really love to play a majority of different mods, including Bang, Loko, the Eraser Bot, and a WHOLE bunch more. I have used google to the best of my ability, but no help really, (except to a site with over 6,000 custom quake 2 maps!)
If the process involves Compiling a mod, I'd very much appreciate it if you could give me a step by step tutorial.
Thanks

Quake2 mods are often closed source, native win32 (and if lucky, *nix) code. Unless PSP was powerful enough to virtualise gamex86.dll through x86 interpreting somehow, it ain't gonna happen
another reason why Quake2 sucks
another reason why Quake2 sucks
i should not be here

Actually, it's already happened. Crow_bar compiled a gamepsp.prx for heavy mods, like action quake 2. I was just asking how he compiled it as a prx file, as I have no idea how to. In addition, they have released the source code for quake 2 a while back, so... idk. Thanks for replaying fast, though. By the way, I heard others saying that crow_bar has left the community or somethng. Please tell me this isn't true, as he is one of the few people still interested in quake 2 for psp.

I had one PSP Built of Quake 2 one time, and it was able to read the game dll. However, normally mods are loaded over an parameter (as seen on Quake PSP too...) but didnt heard of it in crowbars builts.
He modifies the EBOOT directly or something.

Wait. So the psp can use the dll file from quake 2 mods? I thought it was a windows based file only. If there was a way that I could get the psp to recognize that file, that would be great! By the way Ranger, what port did you use, because I've tried 2 other ports, and they both didn't recognize dll files (I tried the cmdline, too-but nothing. Oh, and thanks for your help, too.

I dont know that anymore, it was somekind of "underground" forum back some years ago.
In the readme.txt was written, that if you want to play with bots, you haveto replace the gamex64.dll file with one of a Quake 2 bot.
And i even saw any other files, just the dll and the demo .pak file in the baseq2 folder.
My PSP cant run Quake 2, so i wasnt able to test mods.
