What is the BEST invention of mankind so far? DarkPlaces, ofcourse! (To say nothing of the h-bomb, gameboy and ironmaiden device). Guys! Let's place in this thread the most favourite DP shots. Here mine:

Is the second one from Nexuiz? What about the third one? That looks like a nice RPG.

I loved Blood Omen! Consider me delighted to hear about this.
We had the power, we had the space, we had a sense of time and place
We knew the words, we knew the score, we knew what we were fighting for

I don't prefer DarkPlaces for playing Quake, but some of the total conversions and other mods and experiments look outstanding.
I tried Steel Storm maybe 3 months ago but really couldn't get into it. But it was yet another great illustration of using DarkPlaces.
I wish there were a list of all completed and/or at least release alpha/beta mods made in modern times for DarkPlaces (I would imagine a lot of the older DarkPlaces centric mods would be broken on modern DarkPlaces and the recent additions to DarkPlaces in the last couple of years are more exciting).

Grrrr. Let bygones be bygones please. No open source isn't everything but nobility should count for something, right? I'm not actually an open source fundamentalist [open source lies in the heart, it isn't a moral obligation --- only those that understand the underlying value should contribute aside from works necessitated by license of course] and in fact am a rather reasonable guy, but I know wrong when I see it. And I think most everyone else does too. I understand the asterisks involved, but everyone knows a community body of work when they see it. Starting something is not the same as authoring something, Nexuiz was a collective community effort [Vermis resorted to open source as a means to an end because the status quo wasn't working and needed to attract followers; not for a noble reason ... or so I have been told]. What I saw nearly a year ago was enough to make me sick and heartbroken. But since that time, I feel that karma has had time to make things right ...
