oh boy, now we're getting somewhere!

I think this may work :)

but it may cause problems with 2nd story levels.

maybe a triggerbrush that encompasses upstairs,(and one for downstairs) and when a player is inside of it, it activates, and then it tells all the zombies that are downstairs to go to a waypoint by some stairs or an elevator that will take them upstairs!

thats what the z variable would be for =) if they're so high/low go to the waypoint for the stairs and use those.

hmmm, yes,
although I can imagine potential problems with it. maybe if it gets stuck too badly, and it can't find the player after 3 minutes, respawn.

gah, an alternative to pathfinding zombies... noclipping zombies... that fly...

lol but if you could just find that bot that follows walls instead of just walking at them. you could possibly work that code into what your looking for.

hmm, could this be the said bot that follows walls?
"The Gyro uses combination of wall-following and object seeking methods to explore the levels. It does not use advanced pathing, this explains why the bot does not take up many system resources and does not navigate very smart."
