Replacing music issue

Postby ranger » Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:43 am

When I replace any song in Q3, it won't play ingame even though it's EXACTLY the same format (22khz PCM wav). There were no music error messages displayed in the console.

Make a pk3 (zip) and name it after alphabetically as Q3 prioritizes pk3 files over unpacked by default, and only loads pk3s with sv_pure also

I've placed them in a new pk3: pak13.pk3
But when I play any map that uses the songs that I replaced, nothing plays/it's quiet

if it's quiet, then it's not proper. Q3 expects EXACTLY this for music streams:

22050Hz
16-bit
Stereo
Microsoft PCM WAV format

If it strays from any of the above, Q3 will get upset.

Note that i'm noting the original vanilla engine. The usual forks I don't have to plug usually put an ogg system to this

I made the wav with exactly those specs, but when I loaded the map it says in the console:
No data chunk in music/fla22k_03.wav

If you place the WAV file somewhere, e.g. http://speedyshare.com/ I will take a look at it.

OK, I looked at it, but all I can tell you is that it has an 18 byte "fmt" chunk, which is perfectly valid, but Quake3 only supports 16 byte "fmt" chunks for music.

I know that doesn't help you. The only thing I can suggest is to load it with Audacity and save it again, looking out for any options or variations in the saved format. Perhaps try a few different audio programs.
