As awful as it sounds. You know you were thinking about it, and now it's here.
EDIT: Enter 'qsg' in the email field, silly human detector.

Good luck. Maintaining an imageboard to the best of your own ability will be one of the hardest forums you'll ever maintain despite its implied simplicity. You'd have to prepare for the porn image spambots once your page circulates google one bit.

Yeah, the spambots may become a problem... We'll see how long it lasts.
What is it? A channel or 'chan' is an anonymous threaded forum. Registration is not required to post. Images may be posted. On some chans, image posting is required, but it's not required on func_chan. Feels sort of like a cross between IRC chat and a regular forum.

This isn't the usual kind - it's the kind that try to frame your server for hosting illegal content they planted themselves. Automatically. ...and at that point, it's going to get personal, and nobody wants that.
I hope you have a keen eye for vigilance - it's something quake communities lack apparently - even here.
Sorry about all of the fear being brought up, but it's no myth that anonymous services tend to be abused by criminals. I'm not claiming all anonymous are criminals (I know thats a bloody lie) it's just by generously providing a service without registration, you're open to extreme vulnerability and a high pressure of responsiblity.

That sounds like a horrible abuse, but believable... if we can't find real criminals, let's fabricate some. Guess it could be either government or truly evil bot coders. Even seemingly secure forums can get nasty spam, whether entrapment or not.
Anyway, already got some relatively harmless spam. So, going to take this down for a little while for some "are you human?" type captcha.
The anonymous aspect is not the most important aspect as I see it, it 's the fact one doesn't have to own or defend a momentary thought forever, leading to a more casual atmosphere. Minimizing the hassle to post is part of it. Perhaps even if it's not anonymous, comments should disappear after a few days or weeks like most chans. I think back to the simple QSG threaded forum and similar flat boards. If it were still around it might get spammed to death nowadays.

That's down to each one's ego.
I also agree that it's great when ideas can be considered and validated regardless of their authors' reputation, but this is something that mature people can do naturally.

OK, it's back up, for now. Human detector: Enter "qsg" in the email field. To post and stay within the thread, enter "qsg noko".
If it doesn't crash, eventually I'll post some docs on the site about tripcodes etc. I'm no expert, and am learning as well!

"Magic word in email is required to post." May I have it pweese? I've read the thread and tried what was suggested.
I have a huge archive of Quake 1 animated .gifs that I have made. Lots of them are just begging to be modified.
