Then don't complain about negativity... We are offering our opinions, just like the "positive" people are.
I haven't read anything about gameplay, but I saw the promo materials from a year or two ago before it was "cancelled" and they looked awful. For example, Duke looked like this - http://www.gamingshogun.com/ImageRepo/N ... eaf441.jpg - and I think it would ruin everything if Duke looked like a humourless roided-up tool. I don't know if they've got a new model now (hopefully they do).
But there are actually not plenty of other options. Games in general have been in a dark place for a while. I haven't lowered my standards (would rather have my time back or play old games). One day things will improve and we will look back and everyone will wonder why people ever paid attention to the majority of games from this decade.

Dukes not humorless...he's smug. It's the same facial expression but its a completely different attitude.
I think that pic above looks perfect for duke.
Also MH, I think at this point duke has earned its cynicism.
I will simply hold my breath and see what happens..but I'm not expecting something as grandios as I was expecting a little over five years ago even.

if you've played the game, you should know that he is a roided up tool. but that teaser was not humorless, i thought it was pretty funny

Good point. Are we in the "80's" of gaming?

...Cripes. That screenshot of Duke looks more like somebody smashed Agent Smith into Quake3's Sarge, then cut off the head and pasted it onto Duke's body...at around 50-60 years old...

Never liked the game, shan't rant about why, but will share screenshots of the new one:

I am probably biased, though. Somebody who grew up a decade earlier maybe thought Duke3D was new-fangled crap. This new game probably couldn't do anything to stop my knee from jerking. But things like an "ego-meter" seem to be taking Duke too far into self-awareness or self-parody. There was some subtly required for him to "work", I thought...

Meh. I'll probably play it, but meh.

Okay, watched it...
I kinda hate the way it looks (probably one of those rendering effects or something, whatever it is that makes it look kinda overglossy-plasticy)
Other than that, I find myself surprisingly interested. O_o

Ah, the memories.... loved the humor, the large levels, and that colored lighting was friggin cool back then.
Yah, I'll buy it for nostalgic reasons... "It's time to kick ass, and chew bubblegum... and i'm all outta gum" (Had more one-liners than Arnold)

We probably have a few PAX attendies from here to say some 'f you your wrong' or something. A Xbox360-designed title took away all the promised sophistication on gameplay I was looking forward to in 1997-2001.
I think I know how you feel. The same thing happen to all of my other favorites diablo 3, fable 3, remakes of snes games like gundam and dbz... Instead they make the game simpler or like some other popular game.
I'm not sure I like pure action fps any more. I cant play a fps with out classes, strategy or rpg elements any more. I could only get to the 50th level of doom3 and I almost didn't finish quake 4, I still haven't played the new wolfenstein or aliens vs predator. Either way not sure I would play duke nukem unless they did some thing different.
