One Must Quake (OMF2097 Remake)
Before this little blurb begins, no the project will not be called One Must Quake (just thought it might be a somewhat witty, albeit pathetically so, post title..)
Recently I've gotten the itch to create a fighting game for quake while at the same time making practical use of my CSQC GUI platform. One Must Fall 2097 (OMF) has always held a fond place in my early memories of fighting games, certainly up there with Mortal Kombat and SSF2. Though the game is still playable via DOSBOX, the speed is often variable and it lacks viable online multiplayer.
In a nutshell, I want to recreate OMF for DP/FTE with at least the multiplayer aspect and some modern enhancements such as per-server leaderboards and static rankings similar to SSF4. It will also be a showcase for CSQC, as dynamic health/stamina bars, in-game messages, GUI character menus, and various effects will be utilized.
I'd like to know who would be interested in creating an old-school style remake of OMF with me? I'm not talking Battlegrounds 3D movement, I mean 2D fighting with 3D models and enhancements. While it wouldn't be the most complex project, it would still tread on some new territory for a QC mod. The name and other aspects will obviously need to be changed for various legal reasons, but I still think something fun and intuitive can be built upon the original OMF idea.

Didnt they release the source or was it just they released the game itself via freeware? I did see a post y2k of this game also.
Either way I played this game alot, well the shareware version
I think a fixed camera, POV playing on a simple arena would be very cool. Collision issues would be something unique though....

The OMF QExpo booth is live!
There's not much to see yet, but take a look if your interest is piqued
