Blocking Spam!?

Postby Junrall » Thu May 06, 2010 5:10 pm

Is there a way to block the spammers?
Getting sick of seeing the crap.
Good God! You shot my leg off!

Looks like it's time for CAPTCHA.

There actually is already a captcha, its got that "select all power ups in the pictures below."
That script has obviously been figured out, which is why I always make my own spam bot checks. Custom ones take longer to be bypassed.

How did it figure out the powerup thing? Maybe these spam accounts predate the powerup CAPTCHA? Only way it could figure out the powerup thing, I would think, is for someone to specifically write it to recognize this site's CAPTCHA. Why would anyone do that, unless they were trying to annoy someone here? Of course, there's a possibility that it's not even a bot, but an actual person making those posts.

It was able to figure it out cause inside3d uses a public script called KittenAuth. KittenAuth makes those images and as with all public captcha's they eventually get worked around by bots.
