Darkplaces Wiki/Documentation Project

Postby Error » Sat Mar 20, 2010 6:08 am

With LordHavoc's permission, I'm looking to toss up a Darkplaces wiki on the internets. This will be hosted on http://www.slipgateconstruct.com.

I'm currently looking for someone that has a better understanding of MediaWiki than I, and is a trustworthy person. Meaning, been in the community for a while and established quite well as NOT being a troll. If you think you could be of assistance, then by all means, send me a private message on here, or contact me in #qc or #darkplaces on Anynet. Just the setting up is needed, then your work is done.

Thank you.

Technically better doesn't always equate to most appropriate. MediaWiki is well known and well understood, not to mention proven in the field. If it's the platform you know best you will get better results from it than you would from a platform you don't know.

Just sayin'. 8)

I think you're just allergic to everything that is established and successful! :D

Anyway... good idea on the wiki. I might contribute sporadically, but unfortunately I can make no promises as to my (or my Internet connection's) availability...

To clarify: this site offers all the "normal" things in webhosting (php, mysql, etc.)

I've set up a mediawiki before, though not everything worked the way I specifically wanted it to.

I have unlimited bandwidth/month, about 150gb of webspace... and this is paid for for 2 years already.

Everyone that uses svn is stupid and ugly.

#ifdef is trench warfare.

OT: You've used the quotes before, do you have them saved? :P

Dude... You're REALLY up to some trolling, aren't you ?
Let people use whatever they like, or need, or know. Calling people stupid because they use SVN shows how immature you are, and helps zero to promote any other option you think is better. Actually all you get is to build a stereotypical image of forum troll, and people tend to simply ignore forum trolls because, well, they rarely say something useful or are able to sustain a conversation based on rational arguments.
Good OSS stands on its own merits only.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)
