Prydon Map Test

Postby Chillo » Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:24 am

Ok so I know I said I would start making maps for Prydon. Well I got around to making a new Inn for Capel Curig. I figure we could split the insides of buildings into separate maps in order to increase frame rate.

This isn't really anything special but I'm kind of proud of it, except for a few flaws which I have no idea how to fix. First off, the NPCs and props are not appearing. There are weird cubes where some of the doors are. Other than that, I think it's pretty cool. I'd like anyone who's interested to try it out and give me feedback.

*UPDATE*

Link is now working. Thanks Spirit!

Here's a video for those of you who don't have time to install the map.

I thought it was a remake of the Inn from Zelda: Majora's Mask at first, since I had no clue what The One Seasons was.

Hey, cool! Makes me want to reinstall Prydon...
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)

..What a big difference. Its makes the game a bit more than just walking out the door of the inn. A bit more for the player to immerse themselves into...

Here is the complete town of Capel Curig.

http://www.quaketastic.com/upload/files ... maps_1.rar

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must start this sequence of maps with inn.bsp--otherwise it won't work.

I'll be posting a video of the town's gameplay in a while. I must give credit to whoever created the level "vilage1.bsp" for TAoV. I didn't steal anything from the level, but it gave me a lot of inspiration on how to create a medieval village. I also used a lot of textures from that level. RenegadeC, who made that map?

The only problem with the map so far is that in "inn.bsp" you cannot rent a room for the night. I'm not sure why, but there isn't an appropriate respawning point in the map after you save your game. Other than that, I'm quite happy with it, but I'd still like some constructive criticism about what you'd all like me to add/improve to the levels. Thanks.

I really like it, but multiple maps is bad for netplay. I need to go to magic guy.... but the other guy needs to go to weapons/armor shop... it could get ugly.

Does anyone know if players can use teleporters in Prydon?

Error: I've never played Prydon with multiplayer before, I assumed someone had added a feature where the server was capable of having multiple maps open at once. If that isn't the case, I can easily merge all the maps into one, but as Spike said, it would really be easier if I could use teleporters instead of trying to connect them all together.

do a trial and error with teleporters... I honestly can't think of a time it was used in Prydon or the expansions.

Does anyone know if teleports can be used in Prydon?

Anyway, I cleared up a few quest glitches with my maps and completed the sewer level today.

Spirit: I've uploaded a few files that are now obsolete. Can you delete them? Is there a way that I can?

As of now you can go into the sewers, kill Ramuka and talk to a few new people, so it's almost on par with the original release of Prydon, map-wise.

I'm just having a huge problem with being able to save your game in inn.bsp. I feel like I've copied the entity list from the original town verbatim, and it's a real mystery to why it's not working. FrikaC, can you play with it and see if you can tell me what might be going on?
