Problems connecting
Okay guys, I'm not a newb, and this is irritating me the last couple of days. So, I turn to my fellow quake developer/tech guys for help. So, here goes.
ONLY when I fire-up quake (qrack, darkplaces, fitz, proquake netquake) using port 26000++ i cannot connect. (Winsows XP Pro) In ezQuake, Hlaflife2, FireFox everything else is open. I've checked my firewall settings, everything. My other partition for Windows 7 DOES load up my exact quake install and connects just fine.
This isnt a SETUP problem as it's been fine for the last entire year, just one day i booted up and poof...
Any suggestions?

Have you applied some service pack lately ? I remember one of these (can't remember if SP2 or SP3) closing everything in the built-in firewall.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC

Without thinking, what about your router or Windows firewall.
NetQuake uses a lot more ports than 26000 so if you have forwarded router ports you might be missing part of the handshake.
As far as I know this problem should not apply to QuakeWorld.
Try connecting to quake.ihoc.net:26000, I bet it works regardless of your settings.
The night is young. How else can I annoy the world before sunsrise?

The only piece of software I have installed reciently was Norton Internet Security. I believe it might be the problem as it became unstable and would crash. Currently its partially installed as the uninstaller crashes before everything is removed. So I have some services that are loading yet the main module isnt active. So, basically I may just reinstall windows (ack) or switch to using windows 7 mainly.
