IGN Decides To "discontinue Free Hosting Services"
Moderator: InsideQC Admins
Too cheap to spent a couple of bucks for hosting? Relying on advertisement money to cover hosting costs gets you where IGN has gone, remember?
Your point 4 is a very shifted reality. The site owners did not allow anyone to take their pages and host them somewhere else. I mirror sites because I ASSUME that the owner is fine with it.
A right to embed ads? What universe are you from?
edit: I really got to work on my attitude... Sorry for being so personal.

This is why I strongly encourage linking to the standalone localized archive, which is not reliant on PQ, or IGN, or any other site, that way we can have redundant copies of such gems on our individual machines, and so we don't need to rely on any one site, and thus no one site will incur a heftier load than it desires to put on itself.
Regarding ads, I would suggest you put a frame above sites you host, and place them there, rather than putting them inside of the actual hosted site. I understand that things do have a cost, but Quake is a community and a game, not a business (which is why we're in this whole scramble until August 31st).
We all sacrifice things for Quake, and I have no problem with people gaining some money back, but try to keep it respectful of the content, namely, keeping your monetization and other people's content separate.

...and all around me was the chaos of battle and the reek of running blood.... and for the first time in my life I knew true happiness.

Right
You are right. I will have the sites archived (clean, straight off IGN), and I will think of a way not to intrude them with ads.
I work in the web business, and the reality here seems a bit shifted
bit shift - pun intended
