So far I got the Hotel and Sefton's spq2 fully saved and debugged (relative links instead of absolute). So no one worry about them. I'll upload standalone 7z for each once I am done with the others too.

I am also removing the gamespy ads. What would you think about making download links point to existing mirrors? Is there a Quake 2 map archive somewhere?

I tried saving pages using HTTrack, but links are screwed up, and I managed to save only bits and pieces. I will have to save them manually. I guess a week's work will do.

I've temporarily stuck the ELF on a free hosting service with a co.cc address. I'll probably leave it there for a year till the co.cc stops being free, at which point I'll finally stop being cheap and buy a proper address.

If you've gone through the effort of localizing (no absolute links, no broken URLs, necessary files all right there) a site, please upload and link to a zip, rar, 7z or such of the site as a single file, so that we may store in on our individual hard drives as well. Not to say I don't trust those offering hosting, but if multiples of us have the capacity to upload these sites once again, we will be all the more prepared for most anything in the future as a historical and living community.

I just want to point out a couple of things... I basically got those sites through the "hosted sites" list, but obviously there are a lot of sites missing from that list (mine or ELF are not listed, for example), so there is probably a lot more.
I listed *anything* that dealt with Quake1, but that does not mean all these sites are gems... Kinda interesting if only for the historical approach, though. I'll keep on digging...
