You should go all DP on your next version, like

-md3 players and weapon attachments
-ef_additive use
-replacing arcane explosion mdl effects with new particle effects (using effectsinfo.txt). this'll definitely improve network performance
-mod soundtrack
-ogg sound files for non-weapons
-cut redundant bullet sprayer weapons in favor for more unique projectile-based weapons and exotic weaponry
- use of .glow rather than the built-in ef_dimlight etc

And of course, change the name to SuperDuperDarkPlaces :roll:

Nothing against DP, of course; but it's a Quake mod, not a DP one. It's great if it runs well on DP, and surely Bondo should take care to keep things this way in future versions. But making it a DP-only mod will surely make the potential audience smaller.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)

and then i would call it SuperDuper LeiLei Quake Who Now Does All the Work you jerk :D

Darkplaces only offers some superficial improvements, (a duke player model, the battlelord, some v_weaps, and a dynamic soundtrack -- big deal) not worth it to limit the audience of people who can play it at a decent framerate. It would severely limit who could play this. now i can play it on a geforce2

yeah well it's 2009, and my pentium II works with darkplaces fine and it's got a card worse than a geforce2, and it's hard to get a system that DOESN'T have the capability to run darkplaces nowadays :P

not with this mod leileileilei. i dare you to play bondo49, bondo51, bondo53, bondo63, or bondo64 (next patch) with your awesome PC and darkplaces
