HELP!!!
Guys, I have a disaster on my hands.
My QW server is down, and I can't seem to get it going again
Here's the situation.
I took my computer in for repair (it kept powering down on it's own).
Turned out it wasn't the power supply, it was the motherboard.
Well, I got it back and it's "fixed". Everything works fine except my server ( MVDSV .28 ).
The server runs but I can't connect to it and it doesn't show up in the server list. So, I did some digging and I noticed my IP address changed. Don't know how but it did. So I changed it in my server.cfg file and still nothing.
When I try to connect by typing (connect 24.184.133.158) I get an error message instantly (connection failed or aborted).
I checked all my port forwarding settings and everything seems fine.
I even turned off my firewall, still nothing.
My old IP was 24.184.130.106. When I try to connect to that it at least tries to connect (no instant error message).
I'm stumped!
Any ideas???

'connection failed or aborted' means there's a computer on that ip, but the port is not open (nor silently dropped by a non-compliant firewall, but it could still be firewalled).
are you sure your server is listening on that port? 27500 is the default qw server port.
which ip did you tell the server to bind to? try telling it -ip 0.0.0.0 (ip_addr_any)

Thanks guys.
Turns out that whatever the repair guy did (update windows?) causes the port forwarding on my router (microsoft MN-100 base station) not to operate any more.
Or my router just STB!
Oh well guess I'm buying a new router

Weird one. Whatever you may think about their software, MS hardware is normally another level of rock solid above everything else out there...
We had the power, we had the space, we had a sense of time and place
We knew the words, we knew the score, we knew what we were fighting for

mh: that's because MS hardware is actually made by someone else...
EDIT: and it's true as long as you don't talk about XBox 360...

I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC

OK, haven't got the new router yet. I am determined to make this one work!
Router seems to be working, my server is up and running. Only one problem, it doesn't show up in the server browser anymore
If you try and manually connect (69.113.123.78 ) it works though. Hmmmm. Why isn't the browser finding the server?

might be worth a go
not sure if your server browser knows about that one of course.
