Welcome, its always interesting to see the age diversity here, and yes I do believe you're the youngest. Looks like we've got a 30 year spread here... Nice to see you know your Carmack history, the question is, did you first speak in complete sentences?

How so are you converting Team Fortress to DarkPlaces? Being a Quake mod it is already functioning with it. Unless you mean the Valve takes on it (not a fan personally), but even then, those are mostly imbalances and visual style adjustments.

Regarding spelling and general delivery, if you're using Firefox, just heed the spell checker in it, and when composing a message, preview it first to make sure it looks more akin to how other people post, typically in groups of statements, rather than single lines.

Welcome to Inside3d!
...and all around me was the chaos of battle and the reek of running blood.... and for the first time in my life I knew true happiness.

Nah,

Anyway i miss the grenades from team fortress classic but do you know this noting special but i was born.

April,1,1997 which was the date in which tfc was released.

Yes i do speak in complete sentences I'm lazy when it comes to grammar but if I'm speaking to a action star or john carmack i will speak in complete sentences and yes scar3crow that includes you.

But Yes Now That You Say It I'm Dumping That Project Mostly I'm Just Going To Screw Around with the quakeC code so more.

One More Thing Inside3D's QuakeC Tut Page Is Dry,But What is the IRC URL for Inside3D.

Ah to be so young and eager to make a game. It's scary that I'm 19 and I sometimes struggle with Quake C, and here we have a 11 year old who, perhaps, at my age will be doing the sort of things in computer science that we 10 years ago thought only top computer scientists could accomplish.

One word of advice though. I started fiddling around 3D modeling apps and so on when I was around 13, and I very clearly remember my arrogance. Perhaps this was fueled by eagerness to make a full 3d FPS game, which I thought was a "realistic" target back then.

Not to stray too far off topic, but my main point is that the feeling of accomplishment can easily be triggered by not doing much work and mostly cheating yourself by cutting & pasting lots of code and not carrying how it works or bothering to understand it fully.
QuakeC is a fun way to learn programming, and it's nice to see that you are taking such great interest in it. However, you are young, and you do have a lot to learn. Don’t jump straight into making you dream game just yet, or even doing something like porting TF to Darkplaces. Start small and work your way up. That's the best way.

You can use the Inside3d java irc client here or use your favorite irc client and connect to: irc.bluecherry.net

You will find most people in channels qc and darkplaces...

Hello Flash.

Have you read Mauve Bib's tutorials yet. You can learn a lot there.

viewtopic.php?t=1286

And here's a link that someone gave me recently, it is a very good book on C that you can read online.

http://publications.gbdirect.co.uk/c_book/

C is, of course, the language that QuakeC is based on.
