That is awesome, but there's no source for the light. It looks odd.

I didn't know you could have railing like that in Quake.

Well, I don't have any lamp textures yet...

Here's some more textures into this rusty metal set... turned on relief mapping in these screenshots too...

They're great especially relief01, but... I guess (rust != shine). So, rusty textures shouldn't have a gloss component. I guess you should combine glossy surfaces with non-glossy surfaces, like a metallic glossy floor with rusty non-glossy walls. Make a try and see how they look.

Could you also provide a zip file with the map and the textures? Alpha as it is. I'd like to do some rendering tests with them.

Jim: Reminds me very much of the Chronicles of Riddick games. i know people find it cheesy and overblown, but i love the overglossy stuff in game ;)

I took part in the Global Game Jam with eihrul of Sauerbraten. On Friday he coded the engine, on Saturday I did design and art and sound editing while he implemented the design, and today on Sunday we finished it up and made it conform to the GGJ standards.

scar3crow: Seems like a nice game. Reminds me of Alien Phobia.. though this one has a bit more goal than just destroy as many aliens as possible. Highscore list would be nice.

Chip: I like shine.. but I'll see what I can do to reduce it from the rust. I'll do more adjustments today, maybe then I'll send some of them..

jim; There were many other desired features, but we started in earnest on Saturday at 11am, and had to have it finished by Sunday at 3pm, and since I didn't want to leave my wife alone all weekend, I actually spent a good bit of that time with her. If we had had another day or two it would've had a proper score system, list, and more variances in behaviors.

xaGe; Yeah it was pretty fun, though I was surprised at how many other people went for full 3d, considering how short the timespan was... It seemed that just frustrated them, but something small and 2d made for fun, and rapid results.

Heh, he's got a big gun :D

I started working on redoing the details for my texture...

I haven't quite decided which of these are the ones I'll use. I could use two of them, since the texture is wider than one of these pillars...

Is that supposed to be like the link gun from UT-3?

Nope, but I got the idea for the look of the two "sheaths" from it, and the idea for the green tubes from the bio rifle :)
