Ah, yes, well that is definitely the intention, thanks for noticing that

Shpuld, that looks AWESOME!
I can't wait to play it. I love those top-down shooters (Crimsonland anyone?).

Spirit: Thanks, Crimsonland is one of my all time favorites
Try out Nation Red if you haven't already, it's pretty similiar to Crimsonland.
Another thing I made is this set of conchars, feel free to use it everyone.

Your mod looks nice drm_wayne.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC

Extreme makeover, Alien Arena edition continues...this mesh wasn't a total rebuild, but pretty close, same with the skin.

Two more, it's been a productive week. Hmmm I might need to make an AA art dump thread at the rate this is going.
The Overlord got an extensive rebuild:

The Slashbot(aka Cobalt tribute) got a more subtle overhaul, as I felt the original wasn't too bad:

Re: What are you working on?
Shot 1:
The materials on the Martians look nice.
The colours of the level and the characters are clashing.
Not a fan of the level textures.
Shot 2:
Looks overall better to me (colours, lighting, textures). Is that supposed to be chipping paint on the characters? Looks like incomplete spray painting. I think the specular on those robots could be more intense.
That weapon is noticeably lowpoly, which clashes with the bumpy shiny look of it.
I like the overall colour scheme in shot 2, perhaps because that crazy pink is absent. Also like the lumas on the chars.
Previous shot with the 2 humans:
Armour looks cool. Doom 3 tech style seems to clash with the low-tech environment. Where's all that light coming from?

Re: What are you working on?
Thanks for the critique GB.
I reuploaded the shot of the human, you were right, it looked weird without being able to see the lightsource. I think this one is layed out a little better, and also I finished the red/blue skins, so I showed the red in this one.

Re: What are you working on?
Been doing a lot of stuff with CSQC and starting to really love it.
I now have a 9 slot inventory for the players miscellaneous items with proper drag-and-drop mouse control.
Player can switch item places in the inventory, drop items by dragging them out of the sidebar and cancel the action by dragging somewhere empty on the sidebar.
The icons are still very much WIP.

Irritant: IMO the new alien model is way betther then the old one. I would have never said that before, but old models for me had head too much big. This is REAALLY nice!
Do you have ever thought to change modeling pipeline? Start for example by a zbrush or blender high density model and bake the normal maps on the low?
Is the creation of new models open to everyone?
Shpuld: very interesting HUD. Great work, simple and effective. Can you please tell where do you learn CSQC? You found a draft by some quake guru or is just hard training?

I learned from the small tutorials you can find, also the CSQC for idiots.txt file that's in FTEQW repositories. Asking for help on IRC also helps.
