Re: Scary needed
I wish people would stop with the "big powerful monster = gorilla" stereotype. Thank god they avoided it in Doom 3, giving the hellknight more of a deformed human appearance. Gorillas aren't scary. By the way, a lot of horror designs don't have eyes. Death stares are scary, but so are weir...

Don't forget about terribly inefficient UVs.leileilol wrote:real old school would be a big fat 320x200 texture done in DeluxePaint with a reliance on dithered gradient effects.

Re: Q2 ref_soft replacement with colored light
It works in GZ with r_coloredlights 2, but the effect is inverted with r_coloredlights 1.

Re: What are you working on?
They had a reason to not place them here. I'd say, that reason is the angle at which the light is emitted. It illuminates both the objects in front of the grate and behind it. Therefore, any shadow texture applied to it would be projected on the greebly "server" thing. Sometimes it's just...

Re: What are you working on?
If some grates don't have shadows, I assume it's intentional on the part of the artists. Or it was simply inconvenient with the tools they had at the time. The shadows drawn directly on light textures are pretty limited in what you can do with them. The game was simply not made with shadowmaps in m...

Re: Q2 ref_soft replacement with colored light
I played the entire Ground Zero with this. Everything was fine until the last level. There's a room containing an unusual lighting trick - a sphere emitting "black light" constantly fading in and out. Everything works as it should with r_coloredlights 0: http://i.imgur.com/8QMgvkm.png r_co...

Re: Q2 ref_soft replacement with colored light
It's a shame r_coloredlights 0 works as 1. It would be nice to have an all-purpose dll.

Re: What are you working on?
As far as I can see, self-shadowing is forced, that's why there are additional shadows on the legs, on the chest, etc. It was disabled for many models (notably human characters) in the original game. Screenshot looks very nice. The only thing I'm worried about is the possibility of the "real&qu...

Re: Q2 ref_soft replacement with colored light
Looks better than I thought it would. But I can't set fullscreen mode for some reason. I'm using the aformentioned 3.24 exe.
