Meshsmoothed on the bottom? You could probably get a similar result with other techniques and save polys if it is.

Hmm, One game I played (This might be offtopic) It was a game that implemented skiing (CS maps) and i floor similar and it required you to run a certain way to master it and jump up half pipes to get up to levels and progress through the map and each section of the map or different maps was harder. ...

Oh Downsider I think MW2 and Counter Strike are great. You can do it using Lith Unwrap depending on how simple the model is it is a rather easy program. Or you do the long way and do it through 3Ds Max like I do. http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Lithium_Unwrap bit of info.

Though if you do not know (I havent actually read the thread) What downsider wrote is put into the autoexec and then you bind the e+use in the config from my understanding.
