Re: qbismSuper8 builds

Progs mdls: Problematic files seem to be 'fixed' for winquake derivitives, with all skins intact, by open/save in Quark. That alone doesn't tell us if it's a file format issue or an engine issue. The fact that winquake explodes rather than self-correcting or gracefully exiting with a message is its...

Re: qbismSuper8 builds

Its cool I understand that mistakes can happen, please just be careful what everyone releases as a fix/patch because there is a plenty of people just downloading stuff and not understanding what else it does. I am in the process of creating a second patch to address the WinQuake client issues for th...

Re: qbismSuper8 builds

Also the files are smaller after this. Updated progs mdls zip: https://qbism.com/download/file.php?id=29 You might let Sock know about that Qbism, seriously man this is not how you fix stuff! The reason all your converted models are smaller is because Noesis has reduced all the models down to ONE S...

Re: What are you working on?

On a side note, MFX's CleanCut map fooled me into thinking my engine was buggy. Creating new standards can lead to funny situations... Yeah, lots of mappers experimented with the split of alpha transparency support in the markV engine, its certainly a good idea to have different alpha's based on ma...

Re: What are you working on?

For me level design (and pretty much everything in a game) is more about the gameplay. I think you need a balance between art, game/level design and reliable code. You need art to get people hooked with screenshots, level design to create encounters and flow, game play systems to keep a player havi...

Re: What are you working on?

Perfect, as always! I wish I had the money to hire an artist like you for my game! :D I know its going to sound odd, but I don't consider myself an artist. I believe I am retro style level designer, I mostly do gameplay, architecture and some textures, but this is often so difficult to convey in a ...

Re: What are you working on?

Toying a little with cubemaps in FTEQW, possible, of course, only with Spike help. I created a simple room with a spinning car. Floor is realtime reflection, car is cubemapped. Wow! that does indeed look very cool for a Quake engine :) I am still trying to maintain a screenshot momentum (roughly 2-...

I have been busy coding a new MOD Arcane Dimensions . I am posting all relevant info/sc...

Re: DirectQuake

Awesome thanks, it apparently only supports 4 extensions :-
DP_TE_PARTICLERAIN, DP_TE_PARTICLESNOW, DP_SV_CLIENTCAMERA, FRIK_FILE
Its a real shame that none of the particle effects on the weapons and monsters can be tweaked or changed.
Thanks for the help.

DirectQuake

I am trying to find documentation on DirectQuake, especially related to QC feature extensions. To make this even more confusing I know there is a fork of the engine called RMQ and I have tried the MH engine web page, but it seems to be missing. The readme file I got with the DQ download has little i...

Re: What are you working on?

@mankrip, yes, I would love to see a video of the new software flames in action. At the moment I am still confused as to why you are replacing them the way you are, will there be any smoke or ember particles used? If you want a fixed (rotate properly) flame model, I fixed this a while ago. (Check ou...

Re: What are you working on?

@mankrip, thanks, the hammer wielding ogres are designed to be additions (sergeant/captains) of an ogre army. I am bit confused about your flame effect, is this a custom engine/client? Can it be used in any other engine? Is your goal to replace the models with software particle effects? Early protot...

Re: What are you working on?

@Spiney, thanks, I suspected you were using the most expensive version, sadly outside of my indie price range. @Seven, thanks, its slow progress but hopefully in a couple of months I will have a small demo @toneddu2000, glad you like it, the effect is a combination of things, the glowing ring is a m...

Re: What are you working on?

Wrote a tutorial on how to make/generate certain kinds of animated textures. BARF Wow that is some lovely software - Spiral Graphics , do you use it yourself? Which version do you use? Did you create the flame animation with that software? @jim, you really need a larger test map, just when you get ...
