Re: Canyon Terrain Editor

Canyon Terrain Editor has reached v1.0 status with a whole bunch of new features like real-time shadows, a movable light source, a texture-by-elevation button, reduced memory consumption from the undo stack, and much more. More complete details can be found in the full post on my blog: http://entard...

Re: What are you working on?

An old school trick to the light cones was to simply use a cone model with a transparent/translucent texture and no collision, placed at the light source. Its not the same as engine rendered, but it worked back in the day. That could work even better with a texture that fades to alpha away from the...

For quake 1, I got an error saying something like triangles were exceeded, I will try with a smaller chunk of terrain. Do i have to make it a detail in quake 1 as well? If you're getting too many triangles, you could also try reducing the detail level, so that you can get the same width of terrain ...

I suppose I could add support for different shapes to be exported, but it seems like it would be easier to just export a whole chunk, and then remove the part in the middle with GTKRadiant. As for producing leaky brushwork, I can look into that. For now, try snap-to-grid (on 1 unit grid), and see if...

any idea what's up?
I had that earlier too - try Ctrl+R to refresh it. That worked for me, if I recall correctly.

As of now, the events page is totally visible to someone not logged in. FYI. I know. Well, I guess there's no problem, as PQ already linked to it. I'm not going to restrict that link, or render it dead. Ok, just wanted to make sure you knew. I'm fine with it being open now too, since taking it down...

You might want to make it more clear that events are public before the Expo starts. I was rather surprised to see my event show up on PlanetQuake news :?

Even though I haven't been particularly active in the Quake modding scene for a while, I'm planning on doing a little something for the Quake Expo this year, at least.

So I take it this means that we're opting for archival and migrating hosting, rather than maintaining the existing hosting/domain? Just want to check before I arrange for different hosting.

Any update on this? I already backed up the files that I had on my filespace on QuakeDev, but if the hosting will be taken over and maintained, I'd like to know ahead of time before I find another host.

EDIT: Also, exactly when will the hosting expire as it stands now?

Canyon Terrain Editor doesn't deal with .wad files at all, so you'll have to set those up yourself. If you create/export textures using the terrain editor that are significantly different from the textures provided, you are free to use those for whatever (you made them!). However, I would rather tha...
