Hmm. Well I guess I will do the project and then before release I'll ask both parties if it's ok. Even if I can't release the vmfs or bsps I could still release the script under GPL. It's just for the challenge mostly anyway.

You'll probably all hate me for this, but I'm attempting an almost total conversion of Quake to Half-Life 2 with a Tcl/Tk script starting with the dm maps. Most textures will probably be from the Quake retexturing project.

I'll also be doing some qc coding for a futuristic mod.

Maximum light value

I checked through the released maps and noticed that the maximum value used for a "light" entity was 850. The qc code says that the default light value is 300. Does this mean that the maximum allowed value for a light is 1024?

Extracting textures

I was wondering if it was legal to extract textures from quake and use them in other non-quake projects as long as its not for profit.

I think I know the answer but I wanted to check with the experts.

I'm writing a program that will generate a .MAP file. I'd like to group some brushes. I noticed that in Worldcraft 1.6a, the .MAP file does not have any grouping info but the .RMF appears to.
